Description

This Christmas Ale pours a warm, Warm amber and delivers a festive balance of smooth malt sweetness and subtle spice. The rich 2-row base malt and touch of caramel malt create a rounded malt profile with notes of toffee and light toast, while a hint of roasted barley adds gentle depth without veering into roastiness. Saaz hops provide a soft, earthy aroma, complemented by a late addition of Columbus for a clean, moderate bitterness that keeps the beer lively. Honey and cinnamon introduced late in the boil lend delicate warmth and seasonal character, resulting in a balanced, welcoming holiday ale.

Compared to commercial winter warmers like Great Lakes Christmas Ale or Breckenridge Christmas Ale, this version is slightly less sweet and more restrained in spice intensity. Its lighter hop bitterness and subtle cinnamon presence make it less dessert-like and more drinkable across multiple pints. The use of honey creates a dry, crisp finish similar to Great Lakes, but with a gentler malt backbone and a cleaner fermentation profile thanks to US-05.
